Pros: Good AF
Cons: Relatively expensive except in kit, most aspects of lens performance
I hate this lens. Vehemently. As such, this review may be a LITTLE slanted. Sharpness and contrast are poor. The range is useless on APS-C, and I'd hate to see the corner sharpness on full frame. The MF ring is AWFUL. Build quality is not great, especially in light of the annoying focus creep (drop) issue. The lens' sole saving grace is AF, which is fast and accurate and features Canon's excellent ring USM motor. Highly not-recommended!

Pros: Relatively lightweight, and has a good range
Cons: Seems flimsy, slow to focus in low light, and sometimes does not focus accurately
This was a great beginner lens that helped me to learn the type of lenses I wanted to upgrade to. The non-fixed aperature can be difficult, but is good for learning. It is poor in low light, and a flash is almost necessary.
