Pros: Very, very sharp, has a nice balance when on the Canon30 or 40d, It is a bargain for what you get.
Cons: No way is it f4 even in bright sunlight, focus is noisy, barrel extends if held facing down.
A superb lens for the money, I bought it for equine photography and it never misses a shot through hunting of the lens. It is not f4 even in bright sunlight it is usually F6.3 but saying that it is at its best at f8 the images then are razor sharp, the bokeh is very pleasing but not up to the Canon 70-200L.
If you want a very good range then this is a very cheap option 50mm to 110mm is its softest setting whilst any thing above that is sharp and 500mm hand held gives wonderful pictures as long as you are 1/800s or higher.
If you Google this lens as "Bigma" you will find that it is the lens of choice for wildlife and bird photographers.
