Pros:  It's cheap and is great for 90% of what life can throw at you
Cons:  Autofocus isn't super(not bad but not great), ISO 1600 shows visible grain, too small for some

This is my first and current DSLR and I love it to death. I received about three months ago and have not been disappointed by it in most respects.

I'll just list the cons since the pro's beyond the obvious(price, reliability, usability, etc.) are a bit numerous.

ISO performance is leaps and bounds above P/S cameras but the camera is showing it's age with noticeable grains at ISO 1600. This picture is a good example http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w148/superlonelyjew/pics/photography/girlgreatshot.jpg

The autofocus is also showing it's age. Don't get me wrong, it's good most of the time, however it just not as good comapred to the higher end DSLR's as well as the XSi or the XT in speed and accuracy.

It's also widely accepted that the digital rebel series is too small for some users and are uncomfortable. I happen to have small hands so it's fine for me though.

With all that said this is an excellent camera with that has very much to offer. It is a cheap way to get into the DSLR game and will satisfy almost all the time. In the three months I've had my camera I've shot over 9000 pictures and have had no regrets.

Pros:  Great pocket-sized DSLR, separate control screen
Cons:  No control wheel, ISO1600 very grainy

My first DSLR was a 350D. I sold it a while back and only recently bought a used one as a backup body.

Having had a play with it as a backup body, I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the images it produces, not to mention how usable it is.

Of course it's unfortunate that it doesn't have a control wheel, which makes shooting in M and/or using EC a bit painful. It also lacks ISO3200 and its sensor doesn't do a stellar job above ISO800. And its dynamic range isn't quite on par with my 30D's (it's easier to blow out the whites).

But in all other respects, it is a great camera for the price. I particularly like the fact that its control screen is a separate LCD - a feature removed from its successor.

Definitely worthy of picking up a low-actuation copy for backup purposes ;-)
