Pros:  Was excellent for it's time and has aged well.
Cons:  Superseded

Now long superseded, this was my first DSLR, and I still use it as a backup camera. I'd still recommend this camera, but not any models older than this one. If you can pick one up cheaply, it'd be a great deal.

The 20D brought in ground-breaking performance and image quality for its time and cost. The high ISO performance is great. The small screen is probably the only part of the camera that dates it significantly.

Pros:  A great camera for its time, and still takes great images
Cons:  Nothing huge, just new cameras out

The 20D was a great camera for its time, and it was the first camera I shot with professionally. They still take great images, but the 40D really is a big step up. If you're a hobbyist and can get a 20D cheap, grab it. If you're a professional get the 40D for the better image sharpness, easier menus, and general development.
